What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a treatment involving a series of lightweight, flexible aligners that you wear temporarily. As your teeth move, you'll use new aligners to continue the process.

The aligners are clear and require no brackets or wires. You remove them to eat or drink and are required to wear them 22 hours a day.

As you wear them, they gently move your teeth into the correct alignment. You'll be able to check your ongoing process easily.

Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners allow you to eat all your favorite foods, take part in all your favorite activities and never feel self-conscious. Many people won't even be able to tell you're wearing them.

How Invisalign Works

Every patient's treatment plan is different. Your dentist creates a customized, personalized plan that's just for you.

What Conditions Can Invisalign Treat?

Invisalign can correct many alignment problems including:

  • Crowded teeth.

  • Overbite.

  • Excessive spacing

  • Misaligned front teeth

  • Overjet

What Happens During an Invisalign Treatment?

If your doctor thinks Invisalign is right for you, you'll go through the following five-step treatment plan.

Step 1: Designing Your Custom Plan

  • Your dentist begins by taking a series of photographs and impressions

  • The Invisalign software and Dr. input will help to generate corrections that need to be made with your teeth and bite.

  • Your dentist can show you ahead of time what you can expect your new smile to look like!

Step 2: Creating Your Aligners

  • Now that your dentist has a clear digital image, the process of making your molds can begin.

  • Invisalign molds are made of a lightweight, flexible material that conforms to your teeth and gums.

  • Your dentist orders the aligners from the Invisalign headquarters.

Step 3: Getting Your Aligners Placed

  • Once the aligners have arrived, you'll go back to your dentist's office to get them fitted and placed.

  • Your dentist fits the aligners and trims them to ensure a perfect fit.

  • Your dentist will make sure the aligners feel comfortable.

  • You'll learn what to expect with the aligners on your teeth.

Step 4: Living With Invisaligners

  • You can continue all your regular activities with Invisalign.

  • Wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day for the best results.

  • Clean them every day with the specialty cleaner supplied by your dentist.

  • Return to your dentist's office every six to eight weeks to get new aligners and check in on your progress.

Step 5: Enjoy Your Beautiful New Smile

After your specified treatment time, your teeth will be straight and you'll have the smile you always wanted. Invisalign lets you fix your smile without worrying about braces, brackets or wires.
